The older you get, the more time you spend outside than at home. As our daily lives are expanded from home to society and we meet various people, parents are pushed back on the priority list. So, the time people spend with their parents is reduced significantly and the time to communicate is also lacking. If this continues for a long time, the relationship with your parents will become awkward little by little and you will find it difficult to even talk with them. In this article, I introduce you to ‘writing a letter’ which is simple but an easy step for you and your parents’ relationship.
There are three reasons for recommending a letter. First, writing a letter is not complicated or difficult. Writing a letter doesn’t require many things. Only a pen and a piece of paper are needed. You just write down your thoughts and feelings slowly. So, writing a letter is an easy way to get close to your parents. Secondly, what you feel about parents can be deepened by writing a letter. Do you remember your feelings as you wrote a letter to your parents as a child? Whenever I wrote a letter on Parents’ Day as a child, I would start to sniffle. When I wrote a letter while thinking about my parents tears gathered automatically. If you write a letter like this, you naturally deepen your mind and become full of emotions. Think about your parents many times, and you will realize that you have many memories and thoughts of them. You can also feel emotions that you didn’t usually feel by writing a letter. Thirdly, it is easy to express your mind honestly to them. A casual conversation with parents is easy, but it is quite difficult to express your feelings frankly and deeply. It can make you nervous to express your feelings so directly to them. Moreover, people who feel awkward with their parents or are not used to expressing their feelings can feel that this is even more difficult. But a letter is writing, not a speech. You can take more care to express the story that would otherwise be difficult to speak. For these people, letters will be the best way to capture their own deep stories.
If you feel it is difficult to express your feelings to your parents because they are usually blunt or difficult, or because you are embarrassed to say it directly, try writing a letter. No matter how close they are, when we don’t express our feelings to them, relationships can become awkward and estranged. If this awkward relationship continues, it might remain as an irrevocable regret. Do you have regrets now? If so, then, it's not too late. The best time may be when you think you're already late. Express your thanks and love in a letter to your parents who are always there for you.< Copyright © The Gachon Herald All rights reserved >
